The Niagara University Men’s ACHA Division 1 hockey team is excited to announce the latest addition to their program – assistant coach, Adam Bobeck.

Adam joins the coaching staff after an 18-year playing career that saw many highs in the greater Buffalo area. He’s accumulated a substantial amount of success on virtually every team he’s played for and hopes that his greatest impact can be that of assisting in the development of Niagara’s younger recruits.

“So much of establishing success on the ice has to do with making simple, but effective adjustments … what was once uncomfortable becomes the norm. From my perspective, practice makes the greatest impact on a player’s ability to challenge his or herself. My hope is that I can eventually make my biggest splash through the construction of drills that force our players to see the ice differently, ultimately elevating their game(s). I’m very, very excited to join the team this weekend and appreciate my fellow coaches for giving me some time to get my ducks in order prior to jumping in, full-boar.”

Head Coach Larry Brzeczkowski weighed in on the latest member to join his staff as they’ve had somewhat of a familiar amateur experience:

“Adam brings 18+ years of playing experience at a very competitive level into the mix. His high-school coach was my college coach, so I know he’s been challenged to think the game in a very specific way. He was a very talented, but even smarter player. It’s always exciting when you can add another bright hockey mind to your staff and to know that the future of our program is trending in the right direction.”

Associate coach, Tom Mooradian reflected Brzeczkowski’s statements saying: “This is a great day for our hockey team, plain and simple. Despite winning 3-straight league championships, playing in the Bowman Cup, advancing his career to the collegiate level and accumulating a tremendous amount of statistical success … to me, Adam’s greatest asset is the type of man he is. When you see him around his wife, how he speaks about the people he loves and the approach he takes to new endeavors – he’s a great role model. He’s the type of person that our program needs. This whole thing isn’t just about playing hockey, we’re molding young men.”

Adam looks to join his new squad behind the bench this weekend as Niagara opens up the regular season on Friday night at 8:00 PM in Erie, Pa. vs. Mercyhurst. He’ll then get his first taste of home action as the Purps face-off against Slippery Rock on Sunday, September 30th at 1:30 PM (Dwyer Arena).

With lots of new faces and exciting developments on the horizon, it is undoubtedly an exciting time for the Purple Eagles.
