Guildford Flames have signed 27-year-old defenceman Corbin Baldwin.

The 6’5” blue liner played junior hockey for the WHL Spokane Chiefs before turning pro in 2012, featuring for the AHL Houston Aeros and ECHL Orlando Solar Bears before helping the Allen Americans win the CHL championship.

Baldwin returned to the AHL the following season with Iowa, spending part of two seasons with the Wild before joining Alaska Aces in the ECHL.

The Winnipeg native remained in the ECHL thereafter, joining Idaho Steelheads, where he has played for the last three seasons.

“We had a talented defensive group last year, and again this year, but Corbin helps us add another dimension with the strengths of the game he plays,” Flames Head Coach Paul Dixon said.

“He is obviously a big body, he blocks shots, he finishes a lot of checks and he is going to compete every moment he is on the ice.”

“We have heard a lot about how hard a guy he is to play against, and we are looking forward to the impression he will have on our defensive unit.”
