Fife Flyers coach Todd Dutiaume revealed new signing Paul Crowder was always a player who impressed him last season.

The former Cardiff Devil is the latest player to check into Kirkcaldy, hot on the heels of former Sheffield Steelers defenceman Scott Aarssen, who signed on Friday.

And Dutiaume says the 33-year-old will strengthen their squad, with the new season just a matter of weeks away.

“We were impressed with him last season whenever we played against the Devils,” Dutiaume said. “He will be an experienced, reliable player for us that will help strengthen our squad.

“Paul is keen to help us win some more silverware this season and is a solid signing.”

Crowder comes to Scotland after a campaign where he won the Elite League and Play-off championships for Andrew Lord’s side last season, where he made 67 appearances and picked up 33 points.

It was his first season back after taking a year’s sabbatical, but has a wealth of experience in the AHL, ECHL and in France during a good career.

And he’s hoping to help the Flyers build on their Gardiner Conference success last season as they go on the hunt for more silverware.

He said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Flyers for the upcoming season and I hope to help build on the success they had last season.

“They have an exciting style of play and I can’t wait to get the season underway and play in front of the Flyers fans.”
