ELITE LEAGUE FIXTURES RELEASED FOR 2018/19
Date: Jul 22, 2018
Manchester Storm coach Ryan Finnerty revealed his contacts kept him right as he announced the signing of new netminder Matt Ginn.
The 27-year-old comes in to replace Mike Clemente, who took the decision to retire at the end of last season.
And Finnerty says his new goalie has his confidence in helping to guide the team from the back this season.
“We did a lot of work to sign Ginn,” Finnerty said. “I was fortunate enough to be able to rely on a close network, who have either played or coached with Matt recently.
“We’re confident in his ability to lead us this year.”
Ginn has spent the last three seasons between Atlanta Gladiators in the ECHL and AHL side Providence Bruins, icing for both.
Storm team-mate Shane Bakker shared the locker room with him at Gladiators two seasons ago as the pair reunite to emulate what was a successful campaign at Storm last year.
Ginn will wear the number one jersey for the club and he’s looking forward to meeting up with new team.
He said: “I’m really thrilled and excited to be joining Manchester Storm. I’ve heard only great things about the team, coaches, fans and the city as a whole.
“I can’t wait to get the season started and hopefully help raise a championship at the end of the season.”
