Virtua Hockey is proud to announce that three Alum were selected in the USHL Draft: Austin Cook (Phase 1: Cedar Rapids 6th round), Jon Bendorf (Phase 2: Chicago Steel 2nd round), and Jason Grande (Phase 2: Dubuque Fighting Saints 17th round).
Austin Cook was a standout defenseman for Virtua Hockey/Team Comcast while playing for the 02's. "Cook has great speed and strength on the backend. He is also a threat on the offense as he see's the ice well and can hammer the puck". Austin is currently playing at Selects Hockey Academy and recently committed to play for the University of Vermont.
While playing for Virtua Hockey/Team Comcast, Jon Bendorf played a pivotal role on one of the most dominate lines in youth hockey. Jon and his two line mates, Evan Barrett (PSU & Chicago Blackhawks draft pick) and Matt Cassidy (QU Commit) helped lead their team to Nationals in 2014-15. "Bendy has tremendous vision and offensive capabilities" Bendorf just finished his season with the Aberdeen Wings where he compiled 46 points in 44 games during the regular season and led his team in points during the playoffs. Jon is committed to play for RPI.
Jason Grande played for Virtua Hockey during the 2016-17 season where he backstopped the 18u team to the District Qualifiers. "Grande has a great combination of size and speed. He never has to make a flashy save because he is always in the right position and reads the play extremely well." Grande recently finished the season with the Amarillo Bulls where he was named Team MVP.
