Krpata, Cohen Named Mid-Season All-Stars
Date: Jul 12, 2022
Salvatore Fusco is the next 518 product who will suit up for the Dragons in just under two months. Fusco, a 6'1" senior right-hander at Colonie Central High School will head to UMass Lowell and play for Coach Ken Harring's Riverhawks following his summer in Glens Falls.
Dragons manager Cameron Curler is happy to have Fusco join his squad in Glens Falls, "I'm really looking forward to having Sal in Glens Falls this summer. A lot of people in the area have spoken very highly of him and it's really exciting for me to help an incoming freshman make his transition into college baseball."
The Dragons had two 2017 high school graduates on their roster last summer, Tyler Mattison (Bryant) and Heriberto Casasola (Reinhardt). Fort Ann graduate, Mattison started six games for the Dragons in 2017. He finished with a 3-2 record and was among the league leaders with 41 K's in 28.2 innings. He is 1-1 with a save in 7 appearances at perennial northeastern NCAA DI power, Bryant University.
Panama City, Panama native, Casasola also experienced success last summer. He led the team in appearances, saves and earned run average. As a freshman at Reinhardt University he has earned the closer role at one of the top NAIA programs in the nation. So far in 2018 he is 4-1 with 5 saves to go along with his 29 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. Fans will be excited to see the side-winder back in Glens Falls in June.
Fusco will be the youngest pitcher on the Dragons 2018 roster but Curler feels this will be a benefit to him, "We have a solid mix of guys coming in who have had success at a lot of different levels. I'm excited about the leaders we have coming back and I think this experience will help him prepare for his freshman year, just as it did for Tyler and 'Berto' last summer.
Although Fusco, the 9th ranked RHP in the state of New York (by Prep Baseball Report) will be the youngest pitcher on the Dragons staff, he will not be the only 2018 high school graduate in Glens Falls. He will also be joined by outfielder and Saratoga native, Brian Hart, a Marist commit.
