The NAIA Hockey Coaches Association is proud to recognize Aquinas College Head Coach, Jordan Permoda, as the Coach of the Year award winner for the 2017-18 season
Permoda guided the Saints to a regular season championship in the NAIA Division for the 2017-18 with a 14-2-0 record in NAIA competition and 22-11-2 overall record during the campaign. In a battle for most of the season with Indiana Tech, Permoda's Saints squad rattled off eight straight NAIA wins from January 26th to February 17th to close out the season and secure the top seed.
The team finished the regular season ranked third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and ended the WHAC season as runner-up in the conference's inaugural men's hockey tournament with a 2-1 defeat of #2 Indiana Tech and 1-3 loss to #1 Michigan–Dearborn.
Coach Permoda joined the Aquinas College Men’s Hockey Coaching Staff as a volunteer assistant coach beginning in 2012 and has continually added responsibilities to his title until being named Head Coach prior to the 2015–16 season. With a blistering record of 24 –6–1 in his inaugural campaign, Permoda was named the 2016 Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference – West Division “Coach of the Year”.
A native of Wayland, MI. Coach Permoda began playing hockey in the West Michigan Area at the house, travel, AAA, and Junior “A” levels prior to his collegiate career. Permoda then capped off his competitive playing days as a defensemen for Davenport University where he helped lead the Panthers to two straight appearances in the ACHA D3 National Finals. Coach Permoda received his BA in Marketing from Davenport University in 2011.
