The men's hockey team took on Lawrence Tech this evening in the NAIA Hockey Tournament semifinals. The Saints, the top-seed in the tournament, dispatched the Blue Devils by a final of 7-0 advancing to the tomrrows finals.

The Sains took an early lead, grabbing the 1-0 advantage just under five minutes into the game when Austin Kuch (JR/Fowlerville, Michigan) lit the lamp. Nick Correia (JR/Whitby, Ontario) and Trent Kulczyk (FR/Schoolcraft, Michigan) assisted on the play. The Saints took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to a Kyle Truax (FR/Las Vegas, Nevada) powerplay goal at the 6:26 mark in the first. Connor Barta (SO/Great Falls, Montana) had the assist.

The second period was where the game was blow open by the Saints, scoring twice in the middle stanza to put the game out of reach. Three power-play goals for the Saints gave them a 5-0 lead after 40 minutes. Mike Curran (FR/Anchorage, Alaska) got the party started, with assists to Kulczyk and Correia again. Calvin Wojtaszak (SR/Comstock Park, Michigan) followed that up with a goal of his own, with Levi Rowan (SO/Cadillac, Michigan) on the assist. Kulczyk got in on the action himself, with Correia and Kuch getting the helpers.

The Saints found the back of the net twice more in the third to make the final score 7-0. Spencer Graham (SO/Cadillac, Michigan) and Will Kortz (FR/Grand Rapids, Michigan) put the finishing touches on the win with a pair of even-strength goals. Jason Wrbelis (SR/Rockford, Michigan), Rowan, Barta and Steven Gustafson (FR/Anchorage, Alaska) had assists on the goals. Goaltender Nick Ottenbacher (FR/New Baltimore, Michigan) picked up the win in net for the Saints.

Aquinas advances to take on #2-seed Indiana Tech in tomorrow's NAIA final. Game time is set for 5:00 pm at the OhioHealth Chiller in Dublin, Ohio.
