Glens Falls, NY – The Glens Falls Dragons are pleased announce that Panama City, Panama veteran and Reinhart University Product right handed pitcher Heriberto Casasola has returned to the Dragons for the 2018 PGCBL season.
Casasola returns to the Dragons squad after entering his freshman season at Reinhart. The PGCBL second year sophomore appeared in 13 games for Glens Falls in the 2017 campaign mainly in a shutdown closer role for Coach Cameron Curler. Being one of two 17 year-olds on the Dragons last season, Casasola now a year older has appeared in two contests wearing an eagle on his chest.
The 6-0 190 pounder kicked off his college career with a bang earning himself the win against Saint Francis and earning himself a final line of 1.0 IP, allowing no runs, no hits, walking one batter and finishing with three strikeouts. Casasola also appeared in a game against Cumberland University where Panama native finished with a pitching line of 2.1 IP, 2 hits given up, Allowing one run, Walking two and striking out three as he evened his win - loss record so far for the season.
Overall Coach Curler is looking forward to getting his main shutdown guy and hoping he settles into a grove for his second summer in Glens Falls.
Last season and finishing his senior year of high school, Casasola stepped into a big role right away with the Dragons appearing in 13 games for Curler finishing with an impressive 1.72 ERA and earning himself three saves on the 2017 campaign. Casasola also added 16 strikeouts, and 11 walks to his 15.2 innings pitched for the summer.
The Dragons will hit the field again in June as they kick off the 2018 PGCBL season, their third as a member of the league. Season tickets are on sale now at $5 per game. Call 518-746-4121 for more information.
