Glens Falls NY –The Glens Falls Dragons are pleased announce that Saint Rose Golden Knights product and Cranston, Rhode Island native Brandon Budlong has returned to the Dragons for the 2018 PGCBL season.
Budlong returns to the Dragons squad after now transferring to Saint Rose College from Johnson & Wales University. He will now be entering his junior season in a Golden Knight uniform.
The PGCBL second year sophomore appeared in 11 games for Glens Falls in the 2017 campaign and started in 8 of those games against divisional opponents Albany, Amsterdam and Mohawk Valley. Budlong recorded a winning record of 4-2 in his first year of the league and posted a 3.90 ERA. Budlong also a lot of action under Coach Curler’s Dragons recording 50.2 innings and finishing his summer stat line with 49 strikeouts. He finished among the league leaders in strikeouts and was named team "Pitcher of the Year" at the conclusion of the summer.
Overall, Budlong is looking forward to getting his junior year underway at his new school and is looking forward to settling into a groove in his second season in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.
“I’m extremely excited and anxious to get back up to GF and be part of a special group of players and coaches. I’m very fortunate and blessed to be part of the group that is about to turn the Dragons fortune around from a wins and losses stand point”.
Budlong also stated that he’s excited to get the summer season started as he spoke to Dragon's broadcaster Seth Cooper.
“I’m also excited to see all of the host parents, fans and staff members because the vibe at “The Cave” is like none other. People really get along well and enjoy their summer ball experience”. Budlong concluded.
The Glens Falls area has been no stranger to Saint Rose ball players during the summer. Glens Falls baseball has seen three players represent from the Golden Knights including their newest member Budlong. Joe Foran spent the inaugural season with the Dragons in 2015 and Alex Chandler in 2016.
The Dragons will hit the field again in June as they kick off the 2018 PGCBL season, their third as a member of the league. Season tickets are on sale now at $5 per game. Call 518-746-4121 for more information.
