Guildford Flames picked up their sixth win in their last seven games to beat title challenger Nottingham at The Spectrum on Sunday night.

Robert Farmer gave the Panthers the lead with the only goal of the first period, scoring on the power play in the 14th minute, assisted by Brett Perlini and David Clarke.

Guildford equalised just under seven minutes into the second period, captain Jesse Craige converting with the man advantage, assisted by Elite League leading scorer John Dunbar and Kruise Reddick.

Craige and Dunbar combined once again nine minutes later, this time it was the latter applying the finishing touch to put the home side ahead heading into the second intermission.

The pair were involved in the Flames third goal seven minutes into the final frame, Craige again the scorer with Dunbar and Reddick collecting assists on the play.

Brett Perlini pulled one back for the Panthers in the 53rd minute to set up a pulsating finale, before Dunbar and Reddick collected yet another assist each to set Ian Watters up for an empty net goal.

Undeterred Nottingham opted to pull goaltender Patrick Galbraith in favour of the extra skater again, only for Geoff Walker to put the game beyond doubt with a second empty net goal with just four seconds to go.
