Van Horn Named 2017-18 Most Valuable Player

The University of Regina softball team was crowned the Western Collegiate Softball Association champions on the weekend after going 5-0 in tournament play in Moose Jaw.
The championship weekend caps off an incredible season for the Cougars, which saw them finish play with a 27-1-1 record. The Cougars beat Calgary by a 6-2 score in a 1-2 playoff game before the final against Saskatchewan was rained out. Regina was declared the league champion based on their undefeated weekend record.
The Cougars will leave for Ottawa on Wednesday to compete in the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association championships hosted by the University of Ottawa. Regina is in a pool with Durham College, the University of Ottawa and Brock University.
Tournament play runs from Friday through Sunday.
