Glens Falls Tops Oneonta at Home, 9-7

The Glens Falls Dragons (16-31) topped the Oneonta Outlaws (13-29) at home Friday night, 9-7.

With the game tied at two in the first inning, Jared Morello (St. Joseph’s) notched an RBI to give the Dragons the lead, 3-2.

The following inning, Glens Falls increased their lead to 4-2 after Matt Hamel (Siena) tripled to bring in a runner.

Oneonta narrowed the deficit to just one run early in the fourth with an RBI from Ben Rhodes (Siena).

Later that inning, Anthony Vaglica (LIU Post) tallied a double deep in left field that sent Hamel across the plate. The following play, Ryan Beamish (Lee) singled to bring in Vaglica, ending the inning with the Dragons ahead 6-3.

The Outlaws responded with a run of their own in the top of the fifth, bringing the score to 6-4 Dragons.

The Dragons notched three runs late in the seventh, with an RBI double from Phoenix Hernandez (Southern NH) and two back-to-back wild pitches that both brought in a runner, making the score 9-4 Glens Falls.

In the top of the ninth, Ian Fair (Northeastern) fired off a solo homerun to add another run for Oneonta. Moments later, Glens Falls walked a batter with the bases loaded to bring the score to 9-7 Dragons.

The winning pitcher was Brandon Budlong (Johnson & Wales), and Nathan Wrighter (Bryant) took the loss on the mound.

The Dragons return to East Field on Monday night for their last home game of the season. Glens Falls is set to take on Amsterdam, with the first pitch scheduled for 7PM.
