Date: Feb 12, 2018
The Cougars traveled to Saskatoon on Tuesday, Sept. 20 to take on their rival the Huskies in a doubleheader.
In game one, the Cougars struggled to get on the bats and to move runners around the bases. The Huskies proceeded to capitalize on the Cougars' defensive errors, hitting into the gaps and running aggressively around the bases. In the end, the Cougars suffered a disappointing loss to the Huskies with the game ending in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a score of 17-2.
Despite this debilitating loss, the Cougars came back strong in their second game of the night against the Huskies. Carmen Hughes took to the mound, striking out batter after batter. Defensively, the Cougars pulled up their socks and played a clean game, allowing no runs. Offensively, the Cougars rallied together, hit the ball hard into the gaps, and ran the bases aggressively, wracking up 11 runs by the top of the 5th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, the Huskies failed to catch up. The game ended with the Cougars defeating the Huskies 11-0. Carmen Hughes was the winning pitcher.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Cougars will travel to Moose Jaw to compete against the Briercrest Clippers in a double header. Then, this weekend, the Cougars will be back in Saskatoon for their last weekend of league play before playoffs.
