Minor Bantam AA OBA Champions

The Barrie Red Sox Minor Bantam AA team went undefeated to win the OBA Championship in Brantford on Labour Day weekend.

The team began the tournament with a 7-6 extra inning victory over Guelph. Highlights included a 4-run bottom of the 7th comeback and a walkoff hit to win the game. Barrie then defeated Hamilton 5-2, followed by a 20-5 victory over St. Catharines. The team was then victorious 8-5 over league rival Bloordale, setting up a rematch with Guelph in the finals. Barrie won the final 2-0, which saw Zack Dennis pitch a 3-hit complete game shutout. Other final game highlights included Charlie Martin catching 3 opposing runners stealing and Rylee Hlusiak with an RBI double and very strong defence at shortshop. This is the team’s 3rd Provincial OBA title win in a row.

The team gives a big thanks to all of our sponsors, families and fans for their support throughout the season.
