Eden Prairie concluded a successful week at the Firecracker Tournament in Rapid City, SD this week finishing with a 6-1 record. EP earned their way into the championship game on Sunday July 5 against Rapid City Post 22, however the rain came and the game never got played. According to tournament protocol the teams had a coin flip to determine the tournament winner; Eden Prairie won the flip and were declared the tournament champions.

Eden Prairie’s offense was the story for them all week. They scored 69 runs in their 7 games, averaging nearly 10 runs a game. George Fontenot led the way going 12-17 and Jeff Athey went 9-19 with 12 RBI’s on the week. The highlight of the week was an impressive comeback victory vs. the Las Vegas Durangos in which EP was down 14-1 in the 4th inning and came back to win 18-15.

Eden Prairie gets back to South Hennepin action this week with games vs. Hopkins on Tuesday 7/7 and at Wayzata on Thursday 7/9 before hosting the Gopher Classic this coming weekend
