HC Gherdeina survives SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan comeback, wins 3-1Pranives Sun, Nov 04, 2012 The SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan Broncos tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the HC Gherdeina Furie would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1. HC Gherdeina took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan storm back on a Tobias Kofler goal 19:24 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Broncos were stymied by the Furie netminder Florian Grossgasteiger, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. The solid play of Grossgasteiger will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.24. HC Gherdeina was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. The Furie found themselves short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. HC Gherdeina was helped by Davide Hozknecht, who had one goal. Hozknecht scored 7:26 into the third period to make the score 2-0 HC Gherdeina. Kevin Senoner assisted on the tally. HC Gherdeina also got a goal from Gabriel Vinatzer as well. In addition, HC Gherdeina received assists from Marco Senoner and Fabio Kostner, who contributed one a piece. SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Broncos average 3.2 goals per game. SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Other players who recorded assists for SSI Vipiteno Weihenstephan were Patrick Mair and Hannes Stofner, who each chipped in one. The Broncos' Charles Albert Corsi stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
