Tulsa uses early goal to top Rapid City, 2-1

The Tulsa Oilers beat Rapid City, 2-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Tulsa took over the lead for good with a goal by Michel Beausoleil at 9:27 in the first period. David Solway picked up the assist.

Beausoleil had two goals to lead the Oilers to victory.

Tulsa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its three power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Sean Erickson and Jeff Terminesi, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City was below its usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 28.3 Rapid City averages. Rapid City could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Rapid City averages 3.4 goals per game.

Rapid City was led by Jordan Behler, who scored the team's only goal. Behler scored 17:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Konrad Reeder assisted on the tally.

The Oilers' Ian Keserich stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Tulsa totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play. Tim Boron rejected 25 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
