Vladislav Kartaev scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Russia held off the challenges of the Lake Tahoe Blue in a tough 1-0 win.

Kartaev provided Russia with the game-winning tally when he scored zero seconds into the first period. Pavel Kulikov assisted on the tally.

Russia did not waste many scoring chances, needing only one shots to achieve its goal tally.

Russia was led by Kartaev, who registered one goal.

Russia's offense revolved around and Kartaev, who put and one shot on net. Russia's defense was surprisingly good. Russia averages 2.2 goals allowed per game.

Russia also got a goal from Kirill Rasskazov as well.

Lake Tahoe allowed the opposing goaltender to relax, taking only one shot on goal to force one save. The shot total fell below the Blue's season average of 5.6 shots per game. Lake Tahoe's offense operated below its season average. The Blue average 2.1 goals per game. Lake Tahoe did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

The Blue were led by Tanner Pearson, who took one shot.

Russia ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Lake Tahoe registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
