Merrimack - 2012 Jr. High Festival Champs

The two highest scoring teams of the 2012 Festival went head to head in the Championship game on July 19th, 2012.  Heading into the game with a 5-0 record with 47 goals-for and 6 goals-against, Merrimack played a defensive-minded game to keep New Jersey out of the net.  Merrimack was coached by Scott Hentosh and Mick Lafata.

Coached by Anthony Del Gaizo, New Jersey headed into the Championship game also 5-0, with 49 goals-for and only 2 goals-against.  The two teams were clearly favored to match up in the Championship game with those numbers. However, what was expected to be a high-scoring, offensive-fueled battle, turned out to be a disciplined, low-scoring game.

Such young talent exemplifies the types of players present during the week of July 15-20th at the Haverhill Valley Forum.  Many players will be returning to compete in the 2013 Jr. High Festival, and some are moving up to play in the 2013 Sophomore All Star Tournament.
