Brantt Heble was recruited during the Fresno Monsters 6th season in 2014. Since then, he has become Assistant Captain for the 2015-16 season, posting 7 goals and 8 assist. The veteran forward was kind enough to spend twenty minutes on the phone with James Karr, while on the charter bus traveling to tonight's game in Ontario, and answered some of our questions.

Who is currently your favorite player in the NHL and has it changed since becoming Assistant Captain this year?

My favorite player currently is Matt Duchene but growing up Joe Sakic is my all time favorite. Sakic was such a great leader and a big role model for me.

Growing up in Colorado, did you play a lot of outdoor hockey, or was more of an emphasis placed on the indoor rinks?

More indoor rinks for sure but if you go up in the mountains you can go play outdoors.

You used to play for the West Sound Warriors in the NPHL and in 2014 you made the switch and came to play for the Monsters in the WSHL. What was the hardest part about making that transition?

For me just getting used to how intense the atmosphere is on the ice in practice. I joined a core group that knows how to compete everyday and it brought my game up to a whole new level.

What have you been working on this year to continue improving yourself on that new level?

Foot speed…. Working on my starts and my first three to five strides.

Lightning round. One thing you have to do before games.

Listen to some loud music.

What's on your pre-game play-list?

Have to start with “Country Song of the Day” which could be anything then I go into shuffle list

Favorite thing to do in Fresno.

Catch a movie with the boys.

Last question, board shorts or speedo?

Board shorts (laughs)
