URGENT PRESS RELEASE FROM THE COMMISSIONER - State of MRPB...
Date: May 31, 2015

Scott Moviel, a 2nd round draft pick by the New York Mets in 2007, will be pitching in Oregon City this summer.
The Cleveland, Ohio native was drafted out of high school, St. Edward H.S., a private school in Lakewood, OH. Moviel had already committed to go to North Carolina State when the Mets chose him with the 77th pick in the 2007 June Ameateur Draft.
The 6'9" righty has two older brothers who played in the minors, Greg (Seattle) and Paul (Chicago White Sox/Tampa Bay). Moviel last pitched for the Mets in Port St. Lucie, the high A affilate in 2011.
Scott took some time off to go to college and to re-evalute what he wanted to do after having two surgeries for a torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee. The 26 year old righty decided he still had baseball flowing in his veins and, with his wife's encouragement, is ready to take the hill again in hopes of getting back into a Major League organization.
The road to Oregon City started with a phone call to manager Joseph Brown from one of Moviel's roomates while he was with the Mets, current Pittsburgh Pirate John Holdzkom.
Holdzkom had played for the Amarillo Sox in the American Association parts of the past two season while Brown was coaching there. Holdzkom asked if there was a possibility that there was room on the roster for Moviel, and without hesitation Brown replied with and emphatic, "Absolutely!".
During the past few years while Scott has been off the field as a player, he hasn't been off the field entirely. He has been managing a 14 year old travel team, the Jensen Beach Wildcats. While he loves coaching the young men, he still has the passion to play himself, and needs to see if he can finish what he set out to do when he was drafted almost eight years ago-get to the Big Leagues!
