Columbus beats Knoxville 3-2 after comeback scare

Matt Robertson was all over the ice for the Fayetteville FireAntz, as he tallied two goals in Fayetteville's 6-3 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths.
Robertson found the back of the net 6:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 18:44 into the second to make the score 2-2.The FireAntz outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Fayetteville averages 2.7 goals per contest. The FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Robertson, Kyle McNeil and Corey Tamblyn took 20 of the team's 38 shots.
Fayetteville additionally got points from Tamblyn, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and McNeil, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Fayetteville included Derek Elliott and Austin Daae, who scored one goal each. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Kavanagh, John Clewlow, Randy Cameron, Trever Hertz, Zach Carriveau, Chad Hohmann, and Jordan Tibbett, who each chipped in one.
With 45 shots on target during the contest, Columbus exceeded the 29.1 shots it averages per game this year.
The Cottonmouths were helped by Bryce Williamson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Williamson scored 34 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Columbus. Neilsson Arcibal assisted on the tally. Columbus also got points from Matt Gingera, who also had one goal and one assist. Louis Belisle also scored for Columbus. In addition, Columbus received assists from Levi Lind, Kyle Thomas, and Mike Switzer, who contributed one each.
Tibbett rejected 42 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fayetteville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Sheldrake was ejected from the game. Shannon Szabados recorded 32 saves for Columbus. The Cottonmouths incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
