Huge game by Opack boosts Topeka over Yellowstone, 5-2

Trey Opack had two goals and one assist to lead the Topeka Capitals to a 5-2 victory over the Yellowstone Quake.

Opack found the back of the net on the power play 11:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Topeka and again while 11:35 into the second to make the score 3-2 Topeka.

Yellowstone's power play was ineffective against Topeka's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Quake were unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Capitals capitalized on Yellowstone's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Topeka additionally got points from Kyle Rimbach, who also registered one goal and one assist. Topeka also got a goal from Hank Roers as well. More assists for Topeka came via Steve MacIver, who had two and Spencer Sabourin, Alex Johanson, Ben Roth, and Colin OConnor, who contributed one each.

The Quake were helped by Sean Pilet, who tallied one goal. Pilet scored 2:46 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Max Doner assisted on the tally. Mike McCullen also scored for Yellowstone. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Josh Neumann, Sawyer Scanlan, and Will Landsverk, who each chipped in one.

Topeka's Jacob Pelton stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Capitals incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Lance Knudson rejected 27 shots on goal for Yellowstone. The Quake incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
