The North Iowa Bulls relied on the scoring touch of Austin Jackson, who netted two goals, to beat the Bozeman Icedogs, 7-2.
Jackson scored at 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa and again while on the power play 2:59 into the second to make the score 2-0 North Iowa.North Iowa kept Bozeman's goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Frank made 57 saves on 64 shots.
North Iowa also got points from Evan Mills, who also registered one goal and one assist and Trey Gardner, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. North Iowa also had goals scored by Johnny Panvica, Joe Burgmeier, and Travis Johnston, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Joe Kleven, Adam Orn, Carmen Dalesandro, Sam Naegele, Jon Severson, Brett Gravelle, Logan Murphy, and Dylan Zins, who each chipped in one.
The Icedogs found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 10 shots against the Bulls' defense. Bozeman was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.
Jordan Moran recorded eight saves for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Icedogs registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
