Kanata hangs on, beats Ottawa 2-0

Jean-Philippe Langlois gave the Kanata Stallions the lead in the first period, and the Ottawa Senators was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

A goal 15:16 into the first period by Langlois proved to be the game winner, and powered Kanata to the victory. The Stallions had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Joey Champigny was sent off for high sticking. Ian Johnston picked up the assist.

Langlois was all over the ice for Kanata, as he racked up two goals in the win.

Brian Wilson frustrated the Senators' offense all game, and stopped 40 shots en route to a shutout. Wilson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.7 prior to the game.

The Stallions excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Ethan MacLean and Nic Marchand, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa was held below its usual level of production. The Senators put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Kanata was unable to stop Ottawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Senators eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Stallions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 24 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
