Morin's big game bests Kanata in 7-4 Cumberland win

Behind a great game by Matthew Morin, who had two goals and two assists, the Cumberland Grads defeated the Kanata Stallions, 7-4.

Morin scored on the power play at 12:42 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland and again while 14:18 into the second to make the score 6-2 Cumberland.

Cumberland's offense rang up 41 shots on Kanata's net. The Grads found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Cumberland averages 2.5 goals per contest.

Cumberland additionally got points from Travis Douglas, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Chandler Watson, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Cumberland also had goals scored by Reid Murphy, Martin Frechette, and Brett Faber, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cumberland came via Nicolas Mattinen, who had two and Bobby Williams, Nicholas Ngwafusi, Thomas Mansbridge, Brandon Zullo, Ted McCabe, Peter Sigouin, and Ethan Wensink (AP), who contributed one each.

The Stallions were helped by Louis-Charles Croteau, who registered one goal. Croteau scored 9:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Ethan MacLean picked up the assist. Kanata also got points from Domenic Camastra, who also had one goal and one assist and MacLean, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kanata also got a goal from Rowan Savidant as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Arik Breton, who had one.

Kevin Gollmer made 19 saves for the Grads on 23 shots. Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Grads, Murphy was ejected from the game. Kanata's Brian Wilson stopped 34 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Stallions incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
