Three first-inning runs helped the Bourne Braves (28-15) to a 5-1 win over the Wareham Gatemen (14-28) at Spillane Field on Tuesday.
The Bourne Braves scored in the first on an RBI single by Mark Laird, an RBI single by Brian Serven, and an error.
The Bourne Braves were led by Richard Martin Jr's hitting. Martin Jr went 2-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Gabe Friese pitched lights out for the Bourne Braves. Friese held the Wareham Gatemen hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Despite the loss, the Wareham Gatemen's Jake Kalish dominated the Bourne Braves' batters, giving up three runs and striking out nine.
Kalish ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year.
