SLIDERS ANNOUNCE SIGNING OF SACRED HEART ALUM DAVID JACOB

The Sliders announced the first piece to their 2014 roster today and it’s a name that Springfield area baseball fans should be familiar with. The Sliders announced that former Sacred Heart Griffin star David Jacob will play in Springfield next summer for the Sliders.

Jacob played outfield and pitcher for Sacred Heart where he was a formidable force both at the plate and on the mound. During his senior year Jacob batted .459 at the plate while collecting 16 extra base hits to go along with 31 runs scored and 30 RBI’s. During his varsity tenure Jacob managed a career .465 batting average, had 107 RBI’s in 273 at-bats while scoring 80 runs.

On the mound he had equally impressive numbers landing a career 17-3 win-loss record with an ERA of just 1.95.  In his senior he year he struck out 61 batters while walking only 17 in 67 innings pitched.

Jacob is in his freshman season at Quincy University where he will play for the Hawks in 2014.
