The Coastal Plain League lost a dear friend in Al Forman on November 23. Forman, a former professional umpire, helped serve as an umpire evaluator for the CPL from its early days up through three years ago.
“The Coastal Plain League lost a great supporter, umpire evaluator, and friend,” said CPL president Pete Bock. “Al was a great help to us in evaluating our umpires over the years and he enjoyed CPL baseball. We will miss him dearly.”
Forman umpired in the National League from 1961 through the 1965 season. Prior to reaching the majors, he had umpired in the Florida State League, Northwest League, Texas League, and International League.
