NWLA Tournament: Round 3
Date: Oct 17, 2012
The Garret Mountain LumberJacks announced their first move of the 2012-2013 off-season, with the signing of Adam Skurat. Skurat, the league's all-time leader in hits and saves, agreed with a one-year deal for the 2013 season. The next day, the 'Jacks announced they have completed a trade with the Highview Skyhawks, sending Skurat to the Hawks in return for Ant Peluso.
Skurat had previously spent 2004-2008 with the Rapids before being traded to the Cannons. He returned back to the Rapids in 2009, where he stayed up until this past season. Skurat will join former teammate Shane Hanley, who signed with the Hawks earlier in the off-season.
Peluso has spent his entire NWBL career with the Skyhawks franchise, and was an original member of the Wallace Warriors in 2009.
In a much debated move, the Hawks acquire a veteran and decent bat while the LumberJacks get another arm and core player.
