OREGON, Wis. — Specialty teams did in the Rochester Ice Hawks in a North American 3 Hockey League game on Friday.

The Wisconsin Whalers scored twice on the power play and once short-handed en route to an 8-3 victory against Rochester.

Wisconsin led 3-1 after one period and 7-3 after two. It outshot Rochester 49-27.

Hunter Heightland, Colby DeCarlo, Trey McMillen and Ian Smyth scored once each for Rochester.

Joe Perrelle and Peter Henderson had two goals apiece for Wisconsin, while Drew Steines, Jordan Boehlke, Taylor Dickert and Russel Barrone scored once each.

Kyle Plantz made 41 saves for the Ice Hawks (10-35-1 overall), who close their regular season tonight against the Whalers, again on the road.

Wisconsin is 30-16-0.

Rochester will be the No. 4 seed in the NA3HL Central Division playoffs, which begin next weekend. Wisconsin will be the No. 3 seed in the division.
