Wolverines Working Hard To Land Steelhead

The Whitefish Wolverines are in mid week preparation for a grueling opponent this upcoming weekend against the undefeated Idaho Jr. Steelheads. Practicing everyday, and honing in on the power play breakout, Whitefish hopes to jump on one of very few weak points in the Steelhead’s game. Coach Joakim Falt has the boys running the breakouts repeatedly until he sees it as textbook correct. Off-ice group conversations are being held about what the mentality of the locker room needs to be in order to prevail, and what changes need to be made in order to bring this group of talented young individuals together as a team.

The players are hitting the gym hard everyday, and the coaching staff is keeping a close eye on the boy’s progress. The Wolverines are putting in the work on ice, and off to best ready their minds and bodies for their three game series at the Manchester Ice and Event Center this weekend.  They leave for McCall at zero dark hundred on Friday morning for the 500 mile trip.

Last year the Wolverines were the first team to defeat the Steelheads in regulation time. The Junior Steelheads did go on the win the division last year and are currently the defending WSHL Thorne Cup Champions.

Games are at 7:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 2:00 pm one Sunday. The games are broadcast on the FastHockey Network (fasthockey.com) or you can follow the action on the live scoreboard at WSHL Live Scoreboard.
