Decatur Blaze climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat Detroit Fighting Irish, 5-4.
Decatur Blaze let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. Decatur Blaze took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Brandon Adler at 19:05 in the first period. Decatur Blaze went down 2-0 after Detroit Fighting Irish's Christian Ramage put the puck home at 6:07 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Richard Pinkowski at 6:27 in the third, Decatur Blaze got the game-winner from Luka Znidarsic at 18:09 in the third period.
Detroit Fighting Irish was unable to stop Decatur Blaze from sending pucks towards the net, and Decatur Blaze eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.
Decatur Blaze also got points from Znidarsic, who also racked up one goal and three assists and Micah Young, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Decatur Blaze received assists from Garret Maged and Dylan Farmer, who each chipped in one.
Detroit Fighting Irish put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Decatur Blaze to score on any of its three power plays. Detroit Fighting Irish's offense rang up 36 shots on Decatur Blaze's net.
Detroit Fighting Irish was led by Nolan Jakrzewski, who finished with one goal and one assist. Jakrzewski scored 19:46 into the first period to make the score 3-3. Eric Long assisted on the tally. Detroit Fighting Irish also got a goal from Jacob Hernandez as well.
