Titans Presidents Message 2010

Dear Titans Players, Coaches, Families & Volunteers:

As the newly elected President of the Timberlea Titans Minor Football Association (TTMFA), I would like to welcome all new and returning players, coaches, families and volunteers to the 2010 season.

The Titans have reached a milestone and are entering our 10th season as a member association of the Metro Minor Football League. I am proud to say that we now have an Executive and Board of Directors that is 10 strong. We have a very dedicated group of individuals that are sharing the responsibilities and tasks which, in turn, will only make our association more effective moving forward.  Over the last several months we have had a number of meetings that saw us come up with some new initiatives and ideas to help foster growth and prosperity within our association. We are presently in the process of producing a new policy that will outline the Timberlea Titans mandate as well as specific by-laws and operating procedures.  One of the major issues noted with our growth over the past couple of years has been a non-intentional lack of communication; it is our pledge to attempt to keep our membership informed and up to date on all matters affecting us.

Our only fundraising initiative has been a yearly auction and this year is no exception.  The auction is held in conjunction with the SJA High School team.  All registrants are expected to donate an auction item for this valuable fundraiser, as well, you will be asked to sell tickets to the auction.  The monies raised from this auction are used to purchase new gear, equipment, uniforms and to cover other associated costs.  Please look at this as an opportunity to be a part of the best Football association in the province rather than an arduous task. The Auction will take place on Fri Oct 8th at St. Margaret’s center, further details regarding the auction will be provided shortly.

Many of you have heard rumors so I will make it official. The Timberlea Titans are indeed trying to get an all weather field in our community. This process has been ongoing for several years now and we are exhausting all avenues to try and make it happen. There is a "Field Improvement Fund" set up and some of the monies earned from the auctions have been allocated to this long-term project. The idea of an all weather field means that we would be able to practice and play our home games in our community and reap the benefits associated with it, i.e., canteen, PA announcing etc...

**NEW** This year all registrations will include a "Field Improvement Fee" of $25 which will be forwarded to the "Field Improvement Fund", the plan is to have this ongoing from year to year.

I would also like to encourage you all to consider helping out at some level throughout the year with your Child’s team.  Whether it is washing jerseys (Bantam level), doing the yard sticks, putting helmets on our youngest players (mites), cleaning up after the games or any other task, your help makes it much easier for the coaches to coach and your child will only benefit that much more.

In closing, I would like to thank the Pioneers of our successful program Mr. Keith Skiffington and Mr. Joe Lauder as well as the many other volunteers over the past 10 years.

Yours in Football,

Mike Culligan
