South Shore Kings penalty kill dominates in 6-2 defeat of P.A.L. Junior Islanders

P.A.L. Junior Islanders failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and South Shore Kings shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2.

The win by South Shore Kings clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

South Shore Kings was paced by Bryan Platt, who grabbed one goal. Platt scored 9:56 into the second period to make the score 3-2 South Shore Kings. Logan Day assisted on the tally.

South Shore Kings made P.A.L. Junior Islanders' netminders to work all game long, racking up 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Kollyn Jones made 30 stops and Shane Joyce made eight. South Shore Kings stifled P.A.L. Junior Islanders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

South Shore Kings additionally got points from Day, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Tyler Whitney, who also had one goal and one assist, Tommy Besinger, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Trevor Fidler, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Beau Starrett also scored for South Shore Kings. In addition, South Shore Kings received assists from John Marino, who had two, Perry Holcombe, who had three, and Nolan Vesey and Timothy Boyle, who contributed one a piece.

P.A.L. Junior Islanders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow South Shore Kings to score on any of its four power plays. P.A.L. Junior Islanders kept South Shore Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Craig Pantano made 29 saves on 31 shots.

P.A.L. Junior Islanders was helped by Mike Sweeney, who racked up one goal. Sweeney scored short handed 3:27 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Chris Makowski picked up the assist. P.A.L. Junior Islanders also got a goal from John Schiavo as well. More assists for P.A.L. Junior Islanders came via Joseph Duszak, Stephen Alonge, and Cameron Heath, who each chipped in one.

South Shore Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. P.A.L. Junior Islanders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
