U16AA Eagles - Powerade Invitational AAA Tournament

Date:  Source: East Coast Eagles Hockey Association

The Eagles traveled south to Atlanta as they were invited to play in the Powerade AAA Invitational hosted by the TPH Thunder organization. Despite getting arguably the toughest schedule of all 8 teams, the Eagles were able to stay focused and brought intensity that would eventually give them a 3-1 record in round robin play. They started against the Atlanta Fire AAA team. The game was tight with a lot of back and forth play. The teams went to a shootout and Justin McEneny was able to net the game winner. No rest for the weary, the team then took on the TPH Thunder AAA American team. The Eagles put together one of their best all-around games of the season and were able to tie the game late in the game on a goal by Aaron Allen sending them into their second shootout of the tournament. Once again, McEneny finds the net and ends the shootout with a 4-3 win. The next day, riding high off two big wins, the Eagles found themselves up against a highly ranked team, the TPH Thunder AAA National team. A number of former Raleigh players and friends are on the Thunder so the boys got to spend time reminiscing. Unfortunately the Eagles took it on the chin losing 9-0 knocking them out of a chance to play in the championship game. The final game of the tournament had the Eagles matched up against the Florida Alliance AAA team. The Eagles jumped on the Alliance early and never relinquished the lead ending the game with a 4-2 win.

Great end to a very strong showing for the Eagles in Atlanta.
