Fighting Irish and Hounds both win on Saturday night

In both games Saturday night in the Midwest Junior Hockey League, the visiting team took the win with a dominating performance.

 

Saturday's first game saw Ryan Santo post a hat trick as the Detroit Fighting Irish posted an 8-1 win over the Berkley Bruins at the Berkley Ice Arena.

Anthony Wojciechowski added a goal and two assists for the Fighting Irish, while Rob Speer tacked on three assists and Jeff Kuhary, Jarrad Vroman, Ryan Morse and Detroit captain Michael Cruse each notched a goal plus a helper.

Detroit goaltender Tyler Skulley made 23 saves to earn the win in net.

For the Bruins, Evan Wilson scored the lone goal and Reed Williams stopped 36 shots between the pipes.

 

In the nightcap at the Big Bear Ice Arena, the Traverse City Hounds used five different goal-scorers to sweep the Soo Firehawks with a 5-2 win.

Jacob Gillis led the way with a goal and three assists, while Jordan Ruterbusch added a goal and an assist for the first-place Hounds.

Adam Jonak, Alex DeVries and Kevin Miloser also scored and Traverse City netminder David Krejcik made 42 saves for his league-best 12th win.

The Firehawks got goals from Ryan Marshall and Ashton Calder and 30 saves out of goalie Brandon Hansen.
