Melady leads Exeter over Dorchester, 5-2

The Exeter Hawks' Liam Melady had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Dorchester Dolphins.

Melady's tallies came at 3:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Exeter and 19:49 into the third to make the score 5-2 Exeter.

With the win, Exeter avoided elimination to make the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series.

The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Dorchester was unable to stop Exeter from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

Exeter additionally got points from Chase Thornton, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Exeter included Tyler Coleman and Christian Petrozza, who scored one goal each. More assists for Exeter came via Austin Carter, who had two and Tyler Kettler, Jon Baker, and Max Naus, who each chipped in one.

The Dolphins forced Exeter goalie Trevor Fleming to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

Dorchester was helped by Derek Todosichuk, who finished with one goal. Todosichuk scored on the power play 17:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Dolphins earned a power play opportunity when Sam Vokes was put in the box for roughing. Jay Ritchie assisted on the tally. Dorchester also got a goal from Alex Weaver as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Chris Lindner, who had one.

Trevor Fleming made 51 saves for the Hawks on 53 shots. Exeter registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Riley Brown recorded 48 saves for Dorchester. The Dolphins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
