Exeter rips Dorchester, 6-2

The win gave Exeter a one-zero lead in the best of seven series.

Hawks kept Dorchester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Brown made 33 saves on 42 shots.

Exeter were led by Chase Thornton, who grabbed two goals and two assists.Thornton scored the first of his two goals at 11:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Exeter. The goal was assisted by Tyler Kettler and Liam Melady. Thornton's next tally made the score 3-1 Exeter in the second period. Kettler claimed the first assist on the goal, and Brett Dalton got the second.Exeter also got points from Dalton, who also registered one goal and three assists and Kettler, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Exeter included Austin Elkin and Max Naus, who scored one each. More assists for Exeter came via Sam Vokes, Melady, Ryan Hopkins (APM), and Tyler Coleman, who contributed one apiece.

Dolphins kept Hawks's goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Fleming made 53 saves on 55 shots.Dorchester were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 12 chances.

Dolphins were helped by Chris Lindner, who finished with one goal.Lindner scored on the power play in the second period to make the score 2-1 Exeter. The score was assisted by Chris Carreiro and Ryan Tuffin.Dorchester additionally got points from Tuffin, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lindner also scored for Dorchester. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Derek Todosichuk, Jay Ritchie, and Carreiro, who each chipped in one.

Hawks totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with ten minors and one major and went 3-for-14 on the power play. Exeter ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Christian Petrozza was ejected from the game. Dorchester incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
