Gillham nets hat trick, leads Alliston to 6-3 win over Penetang

The Penetang Kings could not stop the Alliston Hornets' Devon Gillham, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Gillham got on the scoresheet 9:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:32 into the second and at 3:55 into the third.

The win gave Alliston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Hornets stifled Penetang's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings were unable to stop Alliston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hornets eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Alliston also had goals scored by Mitch Livingston, Mackenzie Flewelling, and Matt Hamilton, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alliston came via Brady Martin and Stephen Nosad, who each chipped in three.

Penetang was led by Matt Cochrane, who grabbed two goals. Cochrane scored the first of his two goals at 4:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. Dallin Blunt assisted on the tally. Cochrane's next tally made the score 3-2 Alliston with 18:29 left in the third period. Matt Meher picked up the assist. Braeden Dorion also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Nate Archer and Brad Kuepfer, who contributed one each.

Tyler Brindle recorded 25 saves for Alliston. The Hornets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew North made 43 saves for the Kings on 49 shots. Penetang incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
