Dorchester holds on for 6-4 win against Mt.Brydges

The Dorchester Dolphins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs on the way to a 6-4 win.

Dorchester made the score 6-3 on a goal by Brent Hammett at 2:36 in the third period, and Mt.Brydges got as close as 6-4 when Antoine Brochu scored 16:42 into the third period.

The win gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Chris Carreiro had two goals and two assists to lead Dorchester. Carreiro scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:57 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Dorchester. A boarding penalty on Jake Watkins had put the Dolphins on the power play. Derek Todosichuk assisted on the tally. Carreiro's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Dorchester with 7:39 left in the second period. Lucas Wilson picked up the assist.

Dorchester forced the Bulldogs goalie Noah Hedrick to work between the pipes, taking 62 shots.

Dorchester additionally got points from Ryan Root, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jay Ritchie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Dorchester also got a goal from Zach Robertson as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Dylan Buckholz APM, who had one and Ryan Tuffin, who had two.

Mt.Brydges kept the Dolphins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Brown made 40 saves on 44 shots.

The Bulldogs were helped by Jack Underhill, who registered one goal. Underhill scored on the power play 7:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mt.Brydges. Mt.Brydges earned a power play opportunity when Robertson was put in the box for holding. Danny Nickles assisted on the tally. Mt.Brydges also had goals scored by Eric Maecker and Mike Vandenelzen, who each put in one. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Randy Hicks and David Vergeer, who each chipped in one and Tyler Lockwood and Alex Cox, who contributed two each.

Dorchester incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Hedrick rejected 56 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Mt.Brydges incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
