Erin wins tough contest against Alliston, 4-2

The Erin Shamrocks and the Alliston Hornets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Erin made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Alec Littlejohn's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win gave the Shamrocks a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Erin got the win thanks to a great game by Littlejohn, who had two goals and one assist. Littlejohn scored the first of his two goals at 9:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Erin. Jesse Gunn assisted on the tally. Littlejohn's next tally made the score 3-2 Erin with 12:51 left in the third period. Gunn picked up the assist.

The Shamrocks' penalty kill excelled, as Erin gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Erin also got points from Keegan Martinec, who also registered one goal and one assist. Erin also got a goal from Liam Kendall as well. In addition, Erin received assists from Mark Terry, who had one.

Alliston stifled the Shamrocks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Hornets were led by Devon Gillham, who racked up two goals. Gillham scored the first of his two goals at 6:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Erin. Brady Martin assisted on the tally. Gillham's next tally made the score 2-2 with 15:54 left in the third period. Joe Cochrane picked up the assist. More assists for Alliston came via Stephen Nosad, who had one.

Mark Terry made 27 saves for Erin on 29 shots. The Shamrocks totaled 41 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Erin, Kendall was ejected from the game. Tyler Brindle made two saves before being replaced by Mike Masucci, who took the loss and made 15 saves. Alliston incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
