Guelph rips Brampton, 6-1

The Guelph Hurricanes were firing on all cylinders against the Brampton Bombers, and when the final buzzer sounded Hurricanes emerged with a 6-1 win.

Brampton's power play was ineffective against Guelph's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Hurricanes were led by Ryan Waterhouse, who tallied one goal and one assist. Waterhouse scored 6:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Guelph. Nicholas Bird picked up the assist.

Guelph's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Brampton power plays. The Bombers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Hurricanes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Guelph averages 3.8 goals per game.

Guelph also got points from Ryan Migliaccio, who also registered one goal and one assist and Lucas Dybowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ryan Burns also scored for Guelph. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Sebastian Stangherlin and Corson Searles, who each chipped in one and Sean Power and Tyler Burns, who contributed two each.

Brampton was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 60 penalty minutes.

The Bombers were led by Yianni Liarakos, who scored the team's only goal. Liarakos scored 11:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Guelph. Adel Zivojevic provided the assist.

Christian Propp rejected 19 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Guelph incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jason Rhynold recorded 40 saves for Brampton. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zivojevic was ejected from the game.
