Fort Erie wins tough contest against St. Catharines, 4-3

The Fort Erie Meteors and the St. Catharines Falcons were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Fort Erie made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mackenzie Lockyer at 12:59 of the third period.

The Meteors were led by Lockyer, who registered one goal.

St. Catharines was unable to stop Fort Erie from sending pucks towards the net, and the Meteors eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Fort Erie also got points from Evan Krassey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Fort Erie included Danial Singer and Nick Passafiume, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Paolo Sivilotti, Mackenzie Passero, Dakota Miskolczi, Ben Evans, Holden Garlent, Garrett Jennings, and Declan Conway, who contributed one each.

The Falcons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Catharines gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Falcons average 1.6 goal allowed per game.

St. Catharines was helped by Tyler Hildebrandt, who had one goal. Hildebrandt scored 11:21 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Hunter Holmes picked up the assist. St. Catharines additionally got points from Nicholas Dozzi, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Catharines also got a goal from Jake Evans as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Broderick Kelly, who had one and Brandon Cercone, who had two.

Fort Erie's Brayden Lachance stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Meteors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 35 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Falcons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Vuic was ejected from the game.
