Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U survives MNEPDL 18U comeback, wins 3-2

MNEPDL 18U almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U managed to pull out a 3-2 win in the end.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U's Nate Miller scored at 15:55 in the first period to put Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U up 3-0.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow MNEPDL 18U to score on any of its six power plays. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U's offense rang up 33 shots on MNEPDL 18U's net.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U was led by Bubba Spiering, who registered one goal and one assist. Spiering scored 6:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U. Joe Puglise picked up the assist. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U also got a goal from Alec Moser as well. More assists for Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U came via Andy Carroll and Zaccheus Knutson, who each chipped in one.

MNEPDL 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. MNEPDL 18U was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes.

MNEPDL 18U was helped by Justin Kelly, who tallied one goal. Kelly scored 3:28 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U. Matt Jennrich provided the assist. Benton Maass also scored for MNEPDL 18U. In addition, MNEPDL 18U received assists from Jayden Walsh and Nick Sims, who contributed one each.

Tod Speer made 25 saves for Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 18U on 27 shots. MNEPDL 18U's Ben Meyers stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced.
