St. Thomas outlasts Fort Erie, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Thomas Stars escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

St. Thomas gained the winning advantage on a goal by Carson Brookshaw 11:41 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Stars were paced by Brookshaw, who registered one goal and one assist.

St. Thomas stifled Fort Erie's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stars' offense rang up 35 shots on the Meteors' net.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt McJannet, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. St. Thomas also got a goal from Andrew Chambers as well. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Curtis Ferreira and Carson Moniz, who contributed one each.

Fort Erie excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Thomas was unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Meteors were helped by Nick Passafiume, who racked up one goal. Passafiume scored 1:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Mike Masotti picked up the assist. Darien Kielb also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Ben Evans, who had one.

The Stars' Dan Black stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. St. Thomas incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Riley Daniels rejected 31 shots on goal for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
