Leamington outlasts St. Catharines, 3-2

The game between the Leamington Flyers and the St. Catharines Falcons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Leamington emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Scott Emerson at 19:57 of the third period.

The Flyers were led by Emerson, who tallied one goal and one assist.

Leamington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The defensemen of the Flyers were also effective in St. Catharines' zone, and came away with two goals.

Leamington also had goals scored by Jacob McGhee and Thomas Virban, who each put in one. In addition, Leamington received assists from Joe Urbanic, Colin Moore, Mark Gangnon, and Derek Elliott, who each chipped in one.

The Falcons could not produce up to their normal offensive output. St. Catharines averages 4.9 goals per game. The Falcons' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

St. Catharines was helped by Griffin Roubos, who registered one goal. Roubos scored 11:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brady Lee picked up the assist. James Guest also scored for St. Catharines. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Jake Evans and Nicholas Dozzi, who contributed one each.

Tyler Wall made 19 saves for Leamington on 21 shots. The Flyers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cameron Gray recorded 25 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
