The Welland Jr. Canadians survived a determined comeback attempt by the Waterloo Siskins on the way to a 4-3 win. Welland made the score 4-1 on a goal by Caleb Ambrosio at 9:21 in the third period, and Waterloo got as close as 4-3 when Connor Bodnar scored 18:51 into the third period. In a losing effort, the Siskins were paced by Bodnar, who registered two goals and one assist. Bodnar scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:49 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Welland. Waterloo earned a power play opportunity when Cameron Aitken was put in the box for slashing. Nick Hirst assisted on the tally. Bodnar's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Welland with 1:09 left in the third period. Luke Gazzola picked up the assist. The defensemen of the Jr. Canadians were also effective in the Siskins' zone, and came away with two goals. Welland was helped by Derrick Low, who racked up one goal. Low scored 13:25 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Welland. Jack Fitzgerald provided the assist. Welland also got points from Nathan Ferris, who also had one goal and one assist and Chad Maurice, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Welland received assists from Brayden Crowder and Tyler Stranges, who contributed one each. Waterloo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game. Waterloo also got a goal from Austin Bentley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Joshua Slegers, who had two. Brandon McCorriston made 23 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 26 shots. Welland incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bailey DeGasperis rejected 25 shots on goal for the Siskins. Waterloo registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
