Brantford uses early goal to top Niagara Falls, 3-1

The Brantford 99ers beat the Niagara Falls Canucks, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Brantford took over the lead for good with a goal by Guy Polillo at 10:53 in the first period. The 99ers had gained a power play chance when Matthew Marsden was whistled for interference. Kyle Walker picked up the assist.

Brantford was led by goalie Will Rawski, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Rawski will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.65.

The 99ers were led by Walker, who racked up one goal and one assist. Walker scored 13:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brantford. Christian Polillo assisted on the tally.

Brantford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Niagara Falls power plays. Niagara Falls was unable to stop the 99ers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brantford eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Ryon Pereira also scored for Brantford. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Matt Scanlin, who had two and Brett Parsons and Bryce O`Brien, who each chipped in one.

The Canucks forced the 99ers goalie Rawski to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Brantford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Adam Dentico made 36 saves for Niagara Falls on 39 shots. The Canucks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
